Pistol League
The pistol league I’m running is under way at the MCSSA range at Sharon Johnson Park. Last night was the second of 10 week and I had 8 people (including myself) shooting. This is the first time for me doing any competitive shooting and so far I like it. The match consists and scored using NRA B-16 target, 2 targets, 6 shots each from 25 yds, 30 seconds each, 2 targets, 6 shots each from 15 yards, 20 seconds each, 2 targets, 6 shots each from 15 yds, 15 seconds each and 2 targets, 6 shots each from 7 yards, 10 seconds each. We shot in pairs last night and the total match lasted about 2 hours. Hoping to have a few more join we may shoot in three’s next week to speed it up just a bit. A couple of photos from last night.
So far I’ve learned that I shoot better fast and that I’m not very good from 25 yards. I’m using the 1911 .45acp that I built last year so I’ve worked up 6 different loads with 2 different powders to try to find the best load for the 25 yard distance, and even improve on the 15 yard distance. Even if I end up using 3 different loads for the 3 different distances, that’s what I plan to do. Since the forecast is calling for rain this weekend I don’t think there will be any riding so I’ll be heading to the range, maybe M&M will want to go Sunday. Might even work range master.
Not too late to join, if your interested just contact me for more info.
